Accessibility Statement
Teesside Hospice believes it is vital that everyone should be able to get the best out of our website, even if they are not a technical expert, or have any physical reason why using the internet can be a challenge. We have designed our website to be as accessible as possible in accordance with guidelines laid down by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), and will continue to make changes over time.
Improving our website
We support the WAI initiative to encourage website users to contact us if they feel improvements could be made to its accessibility. Further information about this can be found on the WAI website here: https://www.w3.org/WAI/teach-advocate/contact-inaccessible-websites/
Help with using websites
There are some very simple changes that you can make to your computer that can make it easier to see, hear, understand, or use websites on the internet as well as other programmes on your computer. You can change the text size, adjust colours, use a magnifier, use your keyboard instead of the mouse, or make your mouse easier to use.
A few simple instructions for adjusting text size are listed below, but much more comprehensive information and step-by-step guides can be found on AbilityNet’s My Computer My Way website: https://mcmw.abilitynet.org.uk/
How to adjust text size
You can quickly increase or decrease the text size in almost any browser using these keyboard shortcuts:
- On Windows/Linux: Hold down the Ctrl key and press the plus (+) key to zoom in, or the minus (-) key to zoom out.
- On Mac: Hold down the Command (⌘) key and press the plus (+) key to zoom in, or the minus (-) key to zoom out.
Alternatively, you can change the text size using your browser’s menu:
Google Chrome
- Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top right corner of the browser.
- Next to “Zoom,” click the + or – buttons to increase or decrease the page size.
- Alternatively, click Settings, select Appearance, and customise your defaults under the “Font size” drop-down.
Microsoft Edge
- Click the three-dot menu (…) in the top right corner of the browser.
- Next to “Zoom,” click the + or – buttons to adjust the text and page size to your preference.
Mozilla Firefox
- Click the three-line menu (≡) in the top right corner of the browser.
- Next to “Zoom,” click the + or – buttons to enlarge or reduce the size of the text.
Apple Safari
- Click on View in the top menu bar.
- Select Zoom In or Zoom Out. (To only make the text bigger without affecting images, make sure Zoom Text Only is checked in the View menu).
